Louie is a rhino iguana with a unique story. He arrived at our sanctuary in
December of 2006. He was originally owned by a woman in Ohio who also
kept venomous snakes along with many other reptiles.
She unfortunately got bitten by one of her venomous snakes and ended
up passing away. Her entire reptile collection was taken to the Cincinatti
Zoo. Zoos do not normally accept reptiles or other animals from the public.
They risk the introduction of disease and parasites if they do.
Cincinatti Zoo quickly placed these reptiles with a reptile adoption group
and sanctuary in the Ohio area www.arrowheadreptilerescue.org. They
contacted us and we retrieved Louie along with a black and white Tegu.
